Description
Capitoline venus, 2nd century AD. Capitoline Museums, Rome.
The Capitoline Venus, a 2nd century copy of a Greek sculpture of the 4th BC by Praxiteles, is considered the main exponent of a Venus Pudica, a Venus nude but covering herself. It was found and recovered in the 17th century and bought by a pope who donated it to the Capitoline Museums, where we can find it to this day.
