Artist's Description
Chenonceau in the Forest.
The Chateau de Chenonceau shot in the evening as the last rays of the setting sun touch the rooftops.
Hidden in the middle of a forest, this is probably the most peculiar and beautiful castle of the Loire Valley and I think there is a reason for this that makes it all the more special: It was devised and protected by women.
It was Diane de Poitiers in 1555 who commissioned the building of the bridge and gardens. Later on, it was owned or passed to Catherine de Medici and Louise de Lorraine. It was Louise de Dupin who saved it from being destroyed in the French Revolution, defending its value as the only bridge in miles, and it was Marguerite Pelouze who had it restored in 1865.
I believe there is an undeniable touch of feminine sensitivity to it and I was not surprised at all when I learned of its history. A castle created by women and protected by women. To me, the most beautiful and delicate castle of the Loire Valley.
About Weston Westmoreland
Hi there, Born in '72 and shooting pictures since '83, I particularly enjoy creating wide panoramic compositions, HDRs, HDR Panoramas... But not just... Here you will find landscapes and cityscapes, ancient ruins and modern buildings, moons and seas, planes and boats, guns and flowers, animals and machines, forests and deserts, vanguard and prehistory, digital and film, color and black & white, graves and newborns, temples, trenches, palaces, castles, tanks, churches, bunkers... However, they have some things in common: they are meaningful images, I believe them all to be beautiful, and they are for the most part unique. Come in and judge for yourself. W. W. WE CAN CUSTOMIZE ANY PICTURE TO YOUR PERSONAL LIKING AND MAKE IT...
