Description
Basilica y Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia (Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family), globally known as La Sagrada Familia by Antoni Gaudi.
Words are utterly insufficient to describe this building. The word building itself is demeaning by simplification. This is not just a building. This is one of the future seven wonders of the world. It only lacks age.
It is not only a masterly piece of design, and architecture, full of breakthrough concepts at the time it was designed, moreover it is the creation of a timeless talent, the respect for which is already enormous and can only grow.
There is no way a single visit can do justice to this monument to human creativity. It is just to overwhelming. And it is not even finished.
There is always a crowd swarming around it, so I normally visit this building at night, once the visits are over. The sight is just... well, I do not have the words :)
Since the whole building can get you lost I also made this cropped version of the complete image of the Basilica created from 20 different shots. It is a photo merging of 4 HDR images composed of 5 frames each. It is a lengthy and complex process to get those 20 pictures to blend into one harmonic unit, but once it is done you get a natural view that is as close to being there as technology currently allows. And it can be printed up to 60". I think this wonder deserves no less. It might be done better, but not by me.
