Description
Extra large panorama of the sunset from the white cliffs of Etretat on a September evening.
It was a wonderful day, but the evening got misty and diffuse, the horizon line vanished and the sun hid behind the clouds. I took a few pictures with one eye on the fall and anther on the sun, hoping it would blink at me from the distance.
After a long walk along the cliff and a few wonderful shots of this amazing cliffs, I stopped on my way back. I wanted to give the sun a chance to hue the sunset.
I just stood there waiting, the chill creeping in. I listened to the seagulls, calling lazily to one another and feasted on the breathtaking view, the white stone, the black flint-stone, the rock beaches, and the English Chanel. From that height you can hear the wind, but not the sea, at least on calm days like that one.
And then, when my mind was more set on leaving than on waiting any longer, the sun came out and changed the colors of the western side of the view. A moment of magic. I shot the whole series to mount this panorama as fast as I could (you are seeing the result of 25 independently shot images) and it was not a minute after that the sun hid for good.
By the time I got to the car it was almost totally dark and by the time I was back in my 2 Seconds tent I was too tired to cook dinner and was fast asleep seconds after closing the zipper, but If I close my eyes I can go back there right away. And smile. And breathe.
Amazing place.
