Description
Florence - Perseus in the Loggia. Detail 02
Detail view of the Perseus looking down while raising Medusa's head in triumph.
Perseus with the Head of Medusa is a bronze sculpture made by Benvenuto Cellini in 1545, that was made to be displayed right where it is, next to to the original David from Michelangelo, in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence.
There are many things that make this one the most important statue in the Loggia, but I will just say it is magnificent, beautiful, impressive and shocking.
