Description
Gothic Cathedral of Burgos.
This cathedral, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, is famous for its vast size and unique architecture. Its construction began in 1221 and took over 300 years.
The cathedral was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984 and is the only Spanish cathedral that has this distinction independently, without being joined to the historic center of a city.
This ancient lady is one of the most beautiful and peculiar Gothic cathedrals in Spain. It has been in a bad shape for a long time and only in the last decade has it been restored to its former beauty. The sandstone was cleaned and it now shows resplendent as when it was built.
