Description
Full moon behind the Hotel de Ville. Paris, France
The electric lighting and the full moon behind the clouds create a peculiar atmosphere in this corner of the Hotel de Ville, the town hall of Paris.
This design replaced the old hotel de ville and was originally constructed between 1535 and 1628, but it was burned by the Paris Commune, along with all the city archives it contained, during the Commune's final days in May 1871. The outer structure was rebuilt following the original design at a larger scale between 1874 and 1882, while the inside was considerably modified. It has been the headquarters of the municipality of Paris since 1357.
As for Paris... What can one say about the City of Light that has not already been said...?
