Description
A nautilus in the eye of Hurricane Florence.
A cenital view of the eye of Hurricane Florence, a Category 4 storm. The image was taken from the International Space Station as Florence churned across the Atlantic in a west-northwesterly direction with winds of 130 miles per hour in 2018.
The shape of a nautilus in the eye of the churning storm is simply mystifying. This shape, that follows the Fibonacci sequence, can be found in natural elements ranging from sunflower seeds, nautilus and extinct amonites, to hurricanes or galaxies. An amazing pattern that follows a mathematical sequence known as the Golden Ratio.
