Description
Jupiter and Io.
Jupiter's closest moon Io passes by the colorful cloud belts of Jupiter's southern hemisphere in this image captured by NASA's Juno spacecraft. Io is so close to Jupiter that the gravity pull deforms and stresses the little moon to the point it causes volcanic activity.
Citizen scientist Kevin M. Gill processed this image using data from the JunoCam imager.
