Description
Two Lynxes watching.
Two lynx scan the landscape from a rock outcrop in search of their daily sustenance.
There are four species within the medium-sized wild cat genus Lynx: Canada lynx, Iberian lynx, Eurasian lynx, and Bobcat. Eurasian Lynxes are the largest and Bobcats the smallest.
The lynx is a solitary feline, although they may occasionally travel and hunt together. Mating takes place just before spring and the female gives birth to between one and four kittens just before summer. The young stay with the mother for one winter and then depart to start life on their own as young adults.
The lynx rests in crevices or under ledges. It feeds on a wide range of animals from some as big as deer and goats to smaller, more usual prey as hares, fish, sheep, squirrels, mice, turkeys and other birds.
