Description
Magdalenian Carved Bison.
This beautiful bison is a fragment of a Magdalenian (15,000 BP) spear-thrower carved in deer antler. Found in the cave of La Madeleine, the cave that named the period, this bison seems to be licking it's back or mooing, depending on the interpretation of the marks by its snout, which some believe to be its tongue and others a symbolization of sound. We'll never know.
