Product Details

Our luxuriously soft blankets are available in two different sizes and feature incredible artwork on the top surface. The bottom surface is white. Our 100% polyester blankets are available in two different styles: plush fleece and sherpa fleece. Plush fleece blankets are soft and fluffy on both sides, whereas sherpa blankets are smooth like a soft sweater on the artwork side (i.e. shorter threads) which provides for a sharper image. Looking for a recommendation? Go with a 60" x 80" plush fleece blanket. It's soft and luxurious on both sides... the artwork looks incredible... and the size is just right for everyone.

Artist's Description

Martyrdom of Saint Cecilia, by Stefano Maderno, Rome.

Sculpture of St. Cecilia (1600) in the Church after her name in Trastevere, Rome. Created by the late-Renaissance sculptor Stefano Maderno, there is a marble slab by the statue with the author's sworn statement that he recorded the body as he saw it when the tomb was opened in 1599.

The sculpture depicts the three axe strokes described in the 5th-century account of her martyrdom. It also is meant to underscore the incorruptibility of her cadaver (an attribute of some saints), which miraculously still had congealed blood after centuries. This statue could be considered as proto-Baroque, since it depicts no idealized moment, but a naturalistic representation of a dead or dying saint. It precedes by decades the similar high-Baroque sculptures of Bernini (for example, his Beata Ludovica Albertoni).

Saint Cecilia is the patroness of musicians and one of the most famous of the Roman martyrs. The details of her...

About Weston Westmoreland

Weston Westmoreland

Hi there, Born in '72 and shooting pictures since '83, I particularly enjoy creating wide panoramic compositions, HDRs, HDR Panoramas... But not just... Here you will find landscapes and cityscapes, ancient ruins and modern buildings, moons and seas, planes and boats, guns and flowers, animals and machines, forests and deserts, vanguard and prehistory, digital and film, color and black & white, graves and newborns, temples, trenches, palaces, castles, tanks, churches, bunkers... However, they have some things in common: they are meaningful images, I believe them all to be beautiful, and they are for the most part unique. Come in and judge for yourself. W. W. WE CAN CUSTOMIZE ANY PICTURE TO YOUR PERSONAL LIKING AND MAKE IT...
