Main hall and arcade of the Roman Museum in Merida, former Emerita Augusta.
Emerita Augusta was the capital of Lusitania one of the three Roman provinces that conformed the Spanish territories. It was founded in 25 BC by Augustus to resettle veteran soldiers discharged from the Roman army from Legio V Alaudae and Legio X Gemina.
