Description
Upper Montmartre street at Night, Paris, France.
One of the streets of the old village of Montmartre at the top of the hill that still retain its old structure.
Montmartre, the Mount of the Martyr, is the bohemian heart of Paris, full of ateliers, art shops... and slopes. It was an independent village, the granary and vineyard of the City of Light, until the arrival of the industrial revolution. The orchards between Montmartre and Paris were slowly absorbed by the growing city. The summit where the old village lay, however, retained its own character. A small rural village at the top of the French capital...
As for Paris... what can one say about the City of Light that has not already been said...?
