Description
Oscar Wilde Memorial Sculpture, Dublin.
Detail of two of the three sculptures that complete the Oscar Wild Memorial in Dublin, Oscar Wilde and his wife, Constance Lloyd.
The Memorial Sculpture can be found at the park in Merrion Square near the house where the Irish poet grew up. The sculptures were unveiled in 1997 and were designed and made by Danny Osborne. The third sculpture is a bust of Dionysus.
Oscar Wilde appears leaning back on a rock, pipe in hand, and he looks towards the place where his house used to be. Constance is looking at him over her shoulder. The statue of Oscar Wilde was designed so from one side he is smiling and from the other he looks contemplative.
This picture was shot from a spot from where the couple seems to be looking at each other.
