Artist's Description
Detail of Bison. Marsoulas Cave, France.
The main panel in Marsoulas cave is a rich polychromy of various animals intercrossed by carvings of many others.Bison, horses, antelope, deer... a view into the magical and spiritual world of our ancestors. This part of the panel, which I have named after the bison taking the center, is crammed with engravings and paintings of other animals and signs you can find by click-zooming on the image. There is a partially painted and partially engraved horse on the left, an antelope shows its antlers and looks at us from behind the back of the bison... Simply breathtaking.
Marsoulas cave is not as famous as Chauvet, Lascaux, Niaux or Altamira, but is also full of amazing paintings like this one.
13,000 years old.

About Weston Westmoreland

Hi there, Born in '72 and shooting pictures since '83, I have concentrated my efforts in Cave Art and Ancient Civilizations. I also enjoy creating panoramic compositions... But not just... Here you will find landmarks, landscapes and cityscapes, ancient ruins and modern buildings, moons and seas, planes and boats, guns and flowers, animals and machines, forests and deserts, vanguard and prehistory, digital and film, color and black & white, graves and newborns, temples, trenches, palaces, castles, tanks, churches, bunkers... However, they have some things in common: they are meaningful images and they are for the most part unique. W. W.
