Description
Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan, Mexico. Extra Large Panorama printable up to 108" wide.
The awe-striking Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan lies less than 30 miles away from the ancient Aztec capital Tenochtitlan, we now know as Mexico DF.
This pyramid is wider at its base than that of Cheops. Mesoamerican pyramids were lower than the Egyptians because they were not built as tombs but as temples, at the top of which sacrifices and other religious events took place. You can see a man at the top.
Teotihuacan is older than the Maya and of course than the Aztec, who named it "the place where gods live" (there are other versions) due to the impressive dimensions of this majestic pyramid, biggest stone pyramid standing found so far in such excellent condition.
Teotihuacan is probably the most impressive building raised in the stone age (Precolumbian civilizations worked gold and silver but did not have metal tools, so they were actually stone age cultures when the Spanish arrived).
