Description
Mosaic of a tiger from the Great Palace of Constantinople, Istanbul, Turkey.
Detail of a tiger from the mosaic floors of the peristyle court in the Great Palace of Constantinople, possibly from the times of Justinian I, the builder of Hagia Sophia. This mosaic and many others can be visited at their original location on the unearthed floors that Justinian himself trod, right by the hippodrome that now forms the Sultanahmet square.
