Description
Sagrada Familia spires, Antoni Gaudi, Barcelona, 1882-present day. Closer view.
Detail view of two spires of the Basilica y Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia (Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family), globally known as La Sagrada Familia by Antoni Gaudi. It shows the pinacles of two of the spires of the Passion Façade, dedicated to two Apostles, Thomas and Philip (each marked with a capital letter under the cross at the top). The top of the spires is covered in mosaic.
Words are utterly insufficient to describe this building. The word building itself is demeaning by simplification. This is not just a building. This is one of the future seven wonders of the world. It only lacks age.
It is not only a masterly piece of design, and architecture, full of breakthrough concepts at the time it was designed, moreover it is the creation of a timeless talent, the respect for which is already enormous and can only grow.
There is no way a single visit can do justice to this monument to human creativity. It is just to overwhelming. And it is not even finished.
