Artist's Description
Room of the Caryatids, Louvre Museum, Paris. Rectangular crop.
Located on the ground floor of the Sully Wing and built in Renaissance style by Pierre Lescot in the 16th century, this room takes its name from the four female figures sculpted by Jean Goujon in 1550 to support the musicians' platform. The four caryatid-shaped statues are inspired by those at the Acropolis in Athens.
Built by order of King Henry II, the Salle des Caryatides was originally designed as a village hall and usually used as the King's guard room. A majestic room of 6,500 sq ft., Molière performed here for the first time in front of Louis XIV in 1658. All the decoration of the room is made in limestone . The hall It now houses the Roman copies made from Greek works long since disappeared.
As for Paris... what can one say about the City of Light that has not already been said...?

About Weston Westmoreland
Hi there, Born in '72 and shooting pictures since '83, I particularly enjoy creating wide panoramic compositions, HDRs, HDR Panoramas... But not just... Here you will find landscapes and cityscapes, ancient ruins and modern buildings, moons and seas, planes and boats, guns and flowers, animals and machines, forests and deserts, vanguard and prehistory, digital and film, color and black & white, graves and newborns, temples, trenches, palaces, castles, tanks, churches, bunkers... However, they have some things in common: they are meaningful images, I believe them all to be beautiful, and they are for the most part unique. Come in and judge for yourself. W. W. WE CAN CUSTOMIZE ANY PICTURE TO YOUR PERSONAL LIKING AND MAKE IT...
