Description
Streetlights in la Concha Bay in San Sebastian, Spain. Digital oil painting.
The bay of La Concha (the seashell), in San Sebastian (DOnostia in Basque), usually counted among the top ten beaches in the world and considered the most beautiful beach in Europe.
These streetlights are replicated in one of the prizes in the San Sebastian Film Festival. Behind them, the bay, the island, the two fortresses on top of the hills that protected the old town from the pirates, and the town hall, an old Casino all the European elite and even Mata Hari trod not long before she was caught.
This promenade that runs along the bay, decorated with that characteristic railing that identifies the city, meets the long park called Alderdi Eder (beautiful place in Bask) and its old and twisted tamarind trees in front of the town hall.
This breathtaking beach and city was the chosen summer destiny of international royalty for over a century and a half.
Nowadays, San Sebastian stands as the city with the highest concentration of Michelin stars per inhabitant in the whole world, even before Paris, boasting three 3-Michelin-Star restaurants.
Not one driving hour away from the Guggenheim-Bilbao Museum, San Sebastian is the second city in size in the Basque Country, a beautiful land to visit.
