Description
The Forum from the Capitoline, Rome.
General view of the Forum from the Capitoline Hill, where the Temple of Jupiter Stood. Septimius' Arch on the left hides the Curia, where the Senate met and marks the passage of the main street that turned into the Via Sacra, passing under Titus' Arch at the far right and turning left towards the Colosseum at the bottom. The remains of the Temple of Saturn take the center of the image.
This view shows the forum with people walking around. It gives us measure of the proportions of the constructions. The size of these buildings...
The very streets Julius Caesar, Cicero, Augustus or Trajan walked. One only can wish he could travel back in time just for a second...
The Temples of Saturn, Vespasian and Titus, Antoninus, the Curia and Septimius Arch. Outside the Forum, the church of Santi Luca e Martina. At the bottom right, the Colosseum.
