Description
The Gothic quarter of Barcelona is one of the best preserved old city parts in the world. It is part of the Ciutat Vella (old city) and offers unending walks through narrow medieval alleys, magnificent palaces, churches and cathedrals, Roman ruins and impressive towers.
The one we see here from Ramon Berenguer square shows three different periods of the history of Barcelona. the bell tower and the Gothic chapel of Saint Agata, built in 1302 rest on top of the ancient Roman defensive walls of Barcino. In front of them, the statue of the medieval count Berenguer the Great.
An amazing view that took 2000 years to be completed.
