Detail of the cuneiform writing from the Victory Stele of Akkadian king Naram Sin, grand son of Sargon the Great. The text describes Naram-Sin victory over the Lullubi, a mountain people from the Zagros Mountains.
The Stele was carved in pink limestone in Sippar, it is 6 ft high and 3 ft wide. It was recovered from the ruins of the acropolis of Susa, where it si believed to have been brought as spoils of war brought from the city of Sippar to Susa by Shutruk-Nahhunte in the 12th century BC.
