Description
Vlora Han, Istanbul, Turkey.
Vertical view of the only modernist building in the old city of Istanbul.
The Vlora Han, or Flora Han, was built in the beginning of the 20th century, probably by Italian architect Raimondo D'aronco, with the humble purpose of housing offices. After fulfilling this task for decades, the building fell into disuse for reasons we ignore.
The current state of decay and dereliction doesn't hide the beauty and elegance of the modernist forms that adorn it's facade under years of grime and soot.
Seeing how alive the ground floor and surrounding streets are and how beautiful but forgotten this hidden jewel is, one cannot help but to think this location would be a perfect fit for a Blade Runner sequence, any given night.
