We tend to live or lives like a race, as though there is a final destination that will make everything alright when we get there. It is so common to lose perspective and fail to realize that life is no more than the succession of days we live through. No day is more important than other and sacrificing the present in favor of an hypothetical future is a waste of out life. We cannot live as there is no tomorrow, but we cannot live as if today does not matter either.

Everything we do should be for a good reason. Getting higher in life, earning more, gaining responsibility, having a bigger hose, a better car... these things can add to a happy life, but will not make a miserable life any better. They will only hide the facts and help us deceive ourselves. We should strive to make ourselves and the ones around us lead happier lives, not to have more.
