Jesus, the Cross and the Light, Avignon, France. Vintage version.
I stopped for a night in Avignon and took the time to quickly revisit this beautiful walled city that once was the official residence of a schismatic Pope. The view of this combination of palace, cathedral and fortress remains impressive centuries after it was built, and speaks of troubled times.
I walked up to the side of the palace, to where this beautiful cross stands and, when I was right behind, the sun broke between the clouds far above the horizon and lit it. A touching moment that lasted just enough to shoot this HDR.
