Lascaux Hall of the Bulls, Deer and Horse. Digital oil painting.
This beautiful Deer and Schematic Horse belong to the right side of the Hall of the bulls in Lascaux, France.
They are both easy to overlook as the deer is crossed by the chest of a big Aurochs and the horse's is merely hinted at. An unfinished head ends in the subtle marks of the wall chip, forming the snout as though it was neighing, mouth open. You can see its faint standing ears too. We can make this educated guess seeing the paint came after the flake on the wall (the color doesn't reach the edge).
The same reasons that hide the subjects at first sight, also make this image works nicely as a colorful abstract.
