Artist's Description
Prehistoric Bison - La Covaciella cave, Asturias, Spain. Digital oil painting.
Two of the Paleolithic bison from La Covaciella Cave in Asturias, Spain. Digital oil painting.
Detail of two monochromatic bison. The first one is considered to be female, the second male. La Covaciella cave was discovered in 1994, and as part of the "Cave of Altamira and Paleolithic Cave Art of Northern Spain" site, it is included in the Unesco World Heritage list since 2008.
The recent discovery of the cave and the modern means and politics of preservation (this cave cannot be visited) offer us some exquisitely preserved images from the Magdalenian era like these two bison.
Not as famous as the French caves, due to a much lower degree of publicity and touristic exploitation, the Spanish caves are many and equal in richness and artistry to those in France. The bison in Altamira, the horses in Ekain or these two recent finds of La Covaciella attest to the fact.

About Weston Westmoreland
Hi there, Born in '72 and shooting pictures since '83, I particularly enjoy creating wide panoramic compositions, HDRs, HDR Panoramas... But not just... Here you will find landscapes and cityscapes, ancient ruins and modern buildings, moons and seas, planes and boats, guns and flowers, animals and machines, forests and deserts, vanguard and prehistory, digital and film, color and black & white, graves and newborns, temples, trenches, palaces, castles, tanks, churches, bunkers... However, they have some things in common: they are meaningful images, I believe them all to be beautiful, and they are for the most part unique. Come in and judge for yourself. W. W. WE CAN CUSTOMIZE ANY PICTURE TO YOUR PERSONAL LIKING AND MAKE IT...
