Description
The Via Sacra at night, Rome.
This is where you touch ancient Rome with your feet. It is a strange feeling to stand on a paved street of massive stones that sink over 2 feet deep into the ground, and on which every Roman figure you know about often walked or rode along...
The Via Sacra (Sacred Road) was the main street of ancient Rome, leading from the Capitoline Hill, through the Forum (where it is the widest street), to the Colosseum.
The road was part of the traditional route of the Roman Triumph parade that began on the outskirts of the city and proceeded through the Arches and the Roman Forum.
