Walls of Avila at night. Full Panorama.
Panoramic night view of the medieval walls of Avila, Spain, seen from the west.
The Walls of Avila in central Spain, were completed between the 11th and 14th centuries by the Christian Kingdom of Leon. Today they are the most complete in all the country.
The enclosed area is an irregular rectangle with a perimeter of some 8,250 ft. The walls join 88 semicircular towers. The average width and height of the walls is 9 and 36 ft respectively. There are also nine gates, with two main ones (San Vicente and Alcazar) which are flanked by twin 60 ft high towers linked by a semicircular arch. The cathedral was built as part of one of the 88 towers.
It is possible to walk upon the walls for roughly half the circumference. The walls, the old city of Avila and its extramural churches were declared World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1985.

Hi there, Born in '72 and shooting pictures since '83, I particularly enjoy creating wide panoramic compositions, HDRs, HDR Panoramas... But not just... Here you will find landscapes and cityscapes, ancient ruins and modern buildings, moons and seas, planes and boats, guns and flowers, animals and machines, forests and deserts, vanguard and prehistory, digital and film, color and black & white, graves and newborns, temples, trenches, palaces, castles, tanks, churches, bunkers... However, they have some things in common: they are meaningful images, I believe them all to be beautiful, and they are for the most part unique. Come in and judge for yourself. W. W. WE CAN CUSTOMIZE ANY PICTURE TO YOUR PERSONAL LIKING AND MAKE IT...
