Description
Wasp Spider.
A Wasp spider waits patiently for the next prey at the center of her web.
Argiope bruennichi (wasp spider) is a species of orb-web spider distributed throughout Europe, north Africa and part of Asia. Like many other members of this genus, it shows striking yellow and black markings on its abdomen.
The spider builds a spiral orb web at dawn or dusk, commonly in long grass a little above ground level. The prominent zigzag shapes, called the stabilimentum or web decoration, featured at the centre of the orb are of uncertain function, though they may intend to attract insects.
