Description
American Bald Eagle, flagged version. Digital oil painting.
The bald eagle is a bird of prey found in North America. A sea eagle, it can be found in most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States, and the north of Mexico.
The bald eagle is both the national bird and national animal of the United States of America, and appears on its seal. However, it was on the verge of extinction in the contiguous United States in the late 20th century. Populations have since recovered and the species was removed from the U.S. list of endangered species in 1995 and transferred to the list of threatened species. It was removed from the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife in the Lower 48 States in 2007.
I made this digital oil painting from a picture I shot myself of this mighty and gracious creature. There is something definitely hypnotic to its stare, right? Amazing animal.
There is a version of this painting without the flag here: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/american-bald-eagle-weston-westmoreland.html
