Description
Facade of Comares, Alhambra de Granada, Spain. Full Image.
Vertical view of the entrance court to the Palace of Comares and the Mexuar, the sultan's reception hall. This would be the first and probably only court any visitor would see in the whole complex.
Built around 1350 AD, the Alhambra is one of the most spectacular palaces in the whole world, taken directly from the Arabian Nights.A place of breathtaking beauty, preserved by the wisdom of a Sultan who was later labelled a coward for surrendering the fortress before it was utterly destroyed in a fight he could not possibly win. I for one am grateful.
