Description
The Canons House and the cathedral in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona.
The Gothic quarter of Barcelona is one of the best preserved old city parts in the world. It is part of the Ciutat Vella (old city) and offers unending walks through narrow medieval alleys, magnificent palaces, churches and cathedrals, Roman ruins and impressive towers.
The one we see here is the bell tower of the Gothic Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, built between the 13th and 15th centuries. To its left, at the other side of Piety street, stands the House of the Canons, the official residence of the President of Catalonia. On the other side of this building, the famous bridge above the Bishop's street communicates this residence with the Palau de la Generalitat.
On the top left you can see part of one of the distinctive balconies of Barcelona, with the tiles looking down.
This is the place where the kings and counts who governed Catalonia resided.
